Keepers’ of the Wheat is Sinnett’s latest psychedelic mural on display at 7th and Main in Bristow, Okalahoma. The mural was painted March 2013 and features two scissortail flycatchers perched on red buds and keeping watch over a stalk of bulgur wheat. Bulgur wheat is the main ingredient of tabbouleh, in which Bristow has come to be known for producing. The painting climbs to 30 feet tall. Icepick, Sinnett’s assistant, stands in front to give a perspective on the scale of the mural.

The design was an experiment in color and layout. Here is Sinnett persevering through freezing temperatures to complete the mural.

According to Symbolic Meanings:

“Beetles speak to us on being grounded. They move with bellies always close to the earth, and so their wisdom is sacred and deep. They are connected to the core of earth, and so they are rooted in their knowledge about the way of life and nature.

Beetles also talk to us about steady, gradual progress. Observing them, they do nothing without pragmatic, methodical movement.”
